How much is the Houston Rockets’ No. 3 pick worth?

The Houston Rockets hold the third overall pick in next month’s NBA draft, but there is reason to believe the team could trade the selection.

After selecting nine first-rounders since 2021, there isn’t a lot of roster space for the No. 3 overall pick to properly develop, and there’s no surefire player that makes sense for the Rockets at this location.

That’s why Bleacher Report ranks the No. 3 pick as the 8th best trade asset on the market.

“Houston probably wishes the third overall pick was higher in this ranking, but that could be for the right team. Maybe there is a franchise that feels they should have Donovan Clingan (the last No. 3 pick for B /R’s). All it takes is an interested front office to increase the value of the pick,” writes Bleacher Report.

Any of these players listed above would struggle to fit into the Rockets’ rotation, so it makes sense for Houston to return. At the very least, Rockets general manager Rafael Stone and the front office should do their homework to see if there is an offer worth accepting. There will likely be a lot of parity in the teams’ big draws, and if the Rockets can get the player they want a little later in the lottery while also acquiring additional assets, they should consider it.
