Chicago police search for man who violently attacked passenger on CTA Red Line platform

CHICAGO (CBS) — Public transit detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who attacked a passenger on a CTA Red Line platform on Wednesday.

The attack occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. on the platform at 188 N. State St.

According to police, the suspect approached the passenger and demanded change. When the passenger refused his request, the man kicked the passenger and then punched him in the face.

The man was described as an African-American, between 40 and 50 years old, between 5’7″ and 5’9″ tall, and weighing 165 to 200 pounds. At the time, he was wearing a black and gray hoodie, a dark blue T-shirt, gray shorts, light gray knee socks, and blue and white sneakers.

Police are searching for a man who kicked and punched a passenger on the Red Line platform.

Police urge people to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity to 911.
