Man killed, 9 people injured in mass crash in Englewood, Chicago police say

One person was killed and nine others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash Friday evening at the corner of 59th Street and Ashland in Englewood, Chicago police said.

CHICAGO (WLS) — One person was killed and at least nine others injured in a multi-vehicle accident in the Englewood neighborhood, Chicago police said.

According to police, a speeding vehicle heading east on 59th Street near Ashland ran a red light around 9:30 p.m. Friday night and struck at least two other vehicles.

The driver of the first vehicle fled and left his four passengers behind, police said.

A male passenger in his 20s was killed, police said. Three other passengers, including two teenagers, were seriously injured, police said.

Six other people from the other vehicles hit were also taken to nearby hospitals.
