IDF launches investigation into masked, threatening video calls about mutiny

A video has surfaced on social media showing a masked soldier or reservist calling for an uprising against Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and Yoav Gallant, Israeli media reports.

“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, this video is for you. We reservists have no intention of handing over the keys to any Palestinian Authority,” the masked soldier announced.

The Israeli military has since launched an investigation into the video, which was shared via Telegram by Yair Netanyahu, the prime minister’s son.

IDF criticizes behavior in viral soldier video

The IDF leadership immediately called a cross-departmental meeting. The IDF spokesman added: “The behavior documented in the video represents a serious violation of the IDF’s orders and values and raises suspicions of criminal conduct.”

In the video, the soldier is heard saying: “Think carefully who you want to give the keys to. Our brothers were not murdered or raped in vain. We want a victory, a decision. Whoever has harmed the people of Israel and our brothers – we want to destroy them, and you, Mr. Gallant, cannot do that. Change the matter or we will just continue with the prime minister. You wanted a military coup – we will show you what a decision is and what a victory is, how real Jews win.”

Ynet reported that the 162nd Brigade launched an investigation into how soldiers were able to bring mobile phones into the Gaza Strip on the morning of their entry into East Rafah. They were caught filming civilian facilities being trampled by tanks. The videos were circulated within minutes, the report said.
