Second suspect arrested in Frederick County murder

He is currently incarcerated on a no bond status.

Frederick, Md (KM) A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a murder earlier this year in Frederick County. According to the sheriff’s office, 23-year-old Alonzo Michael Epps was taken into custody Tuesday morning after the grand jury returned an indictment on Friday, May 3.

He is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, kidnapping and auto theft for the killing of Brice Wendell Boots, 65, of Pikesville.

According to the sheriff’s office, Epps is behind bars on a no-bond status. .

In March of this year, another suspect in the case, 20-year-old Keon Wilson-Hawkins, was arrested in Baltimore.

On January 10, 2024, at approximately 1:32 p.m., officers responded to the 8200 block of Crum Road in Walkersville for a report of a suspicious vehicle with its turn signals on in a field. It had been there since 7:00 am. Boots was found in the vehicle. Investigators classified his death as a homicide.

Officers closed Crum Road near Stauffer Road to the public for two days while investigations at the scene continued.

The sheriff’s office says this case remains under investigation and anyone with information that could help is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 301-600-2071 and report case #24- 003713.

Officers were assisted in the arrest of both suspects by the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Task Force.
