Sarpanch’s husband arrested for raping and impregnating a minor |

Berhampur: Police have arrested the husband of a sarpanch in a gram panchayat in this block in Ganjam district here for allegedly raping and impregnating a minor girl. After the arrest, police handed over the accused to a special POCSO court in Berhampur on Friday. The arrested person has been identified as Tutu Das, 30.

According to the police complaint, Tutu lured a minor girl and raped her multiple times, resulting in pregnancy. When Tutu came to know about the girl’s condition, he brought her medicines which he gave her to terminate the pregnancy. The incident came to light after the minor girl complained about this to the Purushottampur police station. Based on the complaint, a case (350/24) was registered and after investigation, Tutu was arrested, said Bipin Bihari Hota, IIC of Purushottampur police station.
