1 dead in house fire in Mountain View

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – One person is dead in a fire at a Mountain View home late Friday afternoon.

The Anchorage Fire Department reported that several emergency crews responded to the one-story home on North Bliss Street, near Ames Avenue, around 3:45 p.m. Friday and reported “heavy smoke coming from a window.”

Officials said a dead person was discovered “during initial firefighting efforts,” although it was not clear whether the person’s death was caused by the fire.

The cause of the fire is not yet known but is currently being investigated, the department said.
