Man arrested after car crash in Idaho Falls that leaves six dead – LocalNews8.com

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – Idaho State Police released additional information regarding a fatal crash in Idaho Falls Friday evening.

It occurred on May 18 at mile marker 308 on US 20 between a Dodge Ram and a Chevrolet passenger van.

The police found the injured driver of the Ram as well as six dead and nine injured people in the van.

All injured people were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The driver of the Ram, identified as 26-year-old Luis Garcia-Diaz of Rexburg, Idaho, was treated for his injuries.

Following his release today, police arrested Garcia-Diaz on a warrant for six counts of vehicular manslaughter in Bonneville County.

He was transported without incident and booked into the Bonneville County Jail.

The investigation to determine Garcia-Diaz’s immigration status is ongoing.

According to reports, the Mexican Foreign Ministry confirmed that all passengers in the crashed van were in the United States on H-2A visas for temporary agricultural workers.

The crash remains under investigation.
