Woman killed in Glastonbury accident on Friday: police

The head-on collision occurred Friday morning on Keeney Street between Old Reservoir Road and Woodfield Crossing.

GLASTONBURY, Connecticut — A fatal accident occurred Friday in Glastonbury when a sedan collided head-on with a dump truck, Glastonbury police said, killing the driver of the sedan.

At about 10:36 a.m., Manchester police, volunteer firefighters, EMS and emergency medical services responded to the car crash that occurred on Keeney Street between Old Reservoir Road and Woodfield Crossing, police said.

According to police, a preliminary investigation shows the sedan was traveling northbound on Keeney Street when it crossed the center line and struck a dump truck/trailer. The driver was the only occupant of the sedan; she was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the dump truck was uninjured, police said. Metro Traffic Services’ regional construction team members searched the scene, along with the Connecticut State Police Traffic Unit and members of the Glastonbury Police Traffic Unit.

The identity of the deceased woman has not yet been established. Police said they are currently trying to notify her next of kin.
