Suspect shot by DEA agent in West Palm Beach

A Drug Enforcement Administration agent shot and killed a suspect in West Palm Beach on Friday, the agency said in a statement.

There was a heavy police presence at a Pizza Hut location at 2509 Okeechobee Boulevard on Friday afternoon.

According to a DEA Miami Field Division spokesman, the shooting occurred while the agent was “conducting an authorized law enforcement action.”

It is unclear what the agent was investigating at the time of the shooting.

The agency said the suspect, whose name was not released, died at the scene.

“The crime scene has been secured and there is no danger to the public,” the DEA statement said.

The DEA said it would not comment further while the matter was being investigated.
