Nicole “Nico” Cunigan Jr. remains on the run following the fatal double shooting on Shaftesbury Road on Wednesday morning.

As News Center 7 previously reported, Cunigan is accused of shooting Precious Taste, the mother of his 4-year-old twins. The mother was four months pregnant with a child believed to be Cunigan’s, according to police. He is also accused of shooting 16-year-old Deante Johnson.

New documents obtained by News Center 7 on Friday reveal that Wednesday was not the first time Cunigan was violent toward Taste during her pregnancy.

A 2022 police report shows that Taste was already being severely abused at that time. Police believe Cunigan took Taste’s car without her permission and threatened to report it stolen if it was not returned.

Taste told police that she felt Cunigan coming up behind her and “she thought he was going to hit her or knock her down because that’s what he usually does.” Instead, she “felt several stabs in her body.” She fell to the ground and looked up to see a knife in his hand. As reported News Center 7 at 6:00Taste was also pregnant at the time.

The report states that Cunigan knew about the pregnancy and accompanied her to doctor’s appointments for the baby.

Cunigan was sentenced to prison for aggravated assault in connection with the stabbing. He was released in January, according to the Department of Rehabilitation & Correction’s online database.
