Judge convicts child psychologist in Hawaii who sexually abused his teenage patient

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Hawaii island child psychologist who admitted to sexually abusing a teenage patient was sentenced to 20 years in prison Friday.

Reuben Lelah pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 14-year-old patient.

A judge sentenced Lelah on Friday to two consecutive prison terms of ten years each.

He has since confessed to committing sex crimes against other underage patients and Hawaii Island Police have confirmed that they are investigating him in other cases.

Lelah was indicted last summer and was subsequently offered a plea deal.

The psychologist treated children for nearly two decades at his practice, known as The Loving Service Foundation. According to the nonprofit’s website, which has since been taken offline, the facility specialized in treating children and adolescents who were dying or suffering from chronic illnesses.
