Man arrested after shooting in Jersey City

A Jersey City man was arrested in connection with a shooting near the Marion Gardens public housing complex in Jersey City after an off-duty police officer heard gunshots Thursday evening.

Quashawn Tatum, 30, was charged with attempted murder and weapons possession, Jersey City spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said.

The shooting, in which no one was reportedly injured, occurred at 8:28 p.m. in the area of ​​Dales Avenue and Broadway.

After the off-duty officer reported the incident, on-duty officers were able to quickly locate and arrest Tatum when they determined he matched the shooter’s description.
