Second suspect arrested after man found dead in buried freezer | WJHL

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) – A second suspect has been arrested after a man was found dead in a buried freezer in Carter County.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced Friday afternoon that Jim Chambers was found and arrested in Louisiana.

According to the TBI, Chambers was taken into custody with assistance from the FBI’s New Orleans office, the Louisiana State Police and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The Carter County Sheriff’s Office charged Chambers with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Edward Elliott, who was found in a buried freezer in a remote part of Hampton on May 15. Elliott was reported missing on March 31, but family members said they had not heard from him since late January.

The sheriff’s office announced on Tuesday that Chambers is under suspicion. He is also accused of desecration of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

Another suspect, Joey Guinn, is also charged with first-degree murder and other charges in the case.
