Atlanta and Savannah named top destinations for LGBTQ travelers – Georgia Voice – Gay & LGBT Atlanta News

Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia have been ranked among the top LGBTQ destinations in the United States by various LGBTQ travel guides.

Misterb&b, the world’s largest community of LGBTQ travelers, looked at the cities and locations currently most sought after by American LGBTQ travelers to compile its list of “Gayest Cities in the World for American Travelers: 2024.” According to their rankings, Atlanta ranks 15th, just behind Miami, Florida.

Misterb&b provides a searchable database of LGBTQ-friendly rental accommodations to make travel safer and more accessible for LGBTQ people, built by founder Matthieu Jost after experiencing homophobia and harassment while renting a room in Spain. In the 2023 LGBTQ Travel Safety Index, more than 70 countries received an F for LGBTQ safety, indicating high levels of danger for LGBTQ travelers. In comparison, only 22 countries received an A or A-. The United States was not among them, receiving a grade of B-. In addition to providing accommodation information, Misterb&b recently launched Weere, a feature that allows travelers to connect socially before traveling to get recommendations.

Specific Savannah locations mentioned included the Hamilton Turner Inn, Marshall House, Kehoe House, 17Hundred90 Inn and Restaurant, Bonaventure Cemetery and the Mercer Williams House.
