Eskridge man arrested after shooting and charged with attempted murder

WABAUNSEE COUNTY – On Thursday, May 23, just before 10:30 p.m., Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s Office officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired.

When officers arrived at the scene in the 17000 block of Wakarusa Road, they found evidence, including the circumstances surrounding the arrest of 66-year-old James John Owens of Eskridge.

Owens was booked into the Wabaunsee County Jail and charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault/use of a deadly weapon, aggravated assault/use of a deadly weapon and domestic violence.

No injuries were reported in connection with this incident.

The investigation is ongoing. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in court.
