The owners of Edgewater Recovery Center in Morehead, KY, John Elam and Myra Elam, are charged in child pornography investigation

MOREHEAD, Ky. (FOX 56) – The owners of Edgewater Recovery Center in Morehead were charged Thursday with uploading sexually explicit videos of children to social media.

The Kentucky State Police (KSP) said the Electronic Crime Branch arrested John and Myra Elam at their Morehead residence at around 2:22 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities said the Elams were linked to an “undercover Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation” that found the couple uploading “sexually explicit videos” of children to a social media account.

Myra Elam, 43, was charged with 13 counts of possession of material depicting a minor under the age of 12 in a sexual performance and two counts of possession of material depicting a minor over the age of 12 but under the age of 18 in a sexual performance, law enforcement said.

According to KSP, 43-year-old John Elam was charged with 13 counts of possession of material depicting a minor under the age of 12 in a sexual performance, two counts of possession of material depicting a minor over the age of 12 but under the age of 18 in a sexual performance, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to law enforcement, KSP and ICAC have taken devices suspected of being related to the crime from the residence to a laboratory for further testing; the investigation is ongoing.

The Elams were both booked into the Rowan County Detention Center.
