PMC health chief suspended for irregularities | News from Pune

In an order dated May 21, the government said it had received serious complaints related to alleged financial irregularities as well as psychological and sexual harassment of female employees.

The state government has suspended Pune Municipal Health Chief Dr Bhagwan Pawar following the establishment of a committee to investigate various allegations against him.

In an order dated 21 May, the government said it had received serious complaints about alleged financial irregularities, psychological and sexual harassment of female employees.

On April 29, a committee of inquiry was set up and a preliminary report concluded that the allegations against Dr Pawar were justified.

Allegations of financial irregularities and psychological and sexual harassment were made against Dr. Pawar when he held the office as Health Officer of Pune DistrictHe was accused, among other things, of violating the Maharashtra Civil Services (Section 3) Rules, 1979.

The committee has recommended a detailed investigation and on the basis of this, the State Health Department has issued a suspension order. A copy of the order has been sent to the Pune Municipal Corporation.
