Metro Atlanta officer struck while directing traffic still has ‘long road to go’ – WSB-TV Channel 2

HAMPTON, Ga. — Hampton police say the officer who was struck earlier this week while directing traffic has a long road to recovery.

Fortunately, police said, Hampton police said Duane Jones, 39, was doing “tremendously better.”

A department spokesperson said Jones was struck by a car while directing traffic off Ga. 41 near Woolsey Road. The intersection is near the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The department also said none of the injuries he suffered would require surgery.

Jones is still considered critical, but stable according to police.

The department says he is in a lot of pain but his morale remains good.

The department asked people to keep him in their prayers.
