Subway lines 4/5/6 in Manhattan suspended after person hit by train – NBC New York

According to the MTA, subway service on lines 4/5/6 between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and 86th Street in Manhattan will be delayed in resuming regular service after a person was hit by a train on Friday morning.

According to the MTA, the person was struck near 28th Street. Paramedics arrived at the scene around 9:23 a.m., but the victim did not survive.

An engineer on a southbound 4 express train saw body parts on the tracks near the 28th St.-Lexington Avenue stop and immediately applied the emergency brake, but he was unable to stop the train before several cars drove over the remains, the MTA told NBC New York.

As a result of the investigation, subway operations were disrupted.

According to the MTA, the 4/5/6 trains have been running late in both directions since noon Friday, stopping at all scheduled stops. Service on the southbound 4/5/6 trains initially ended at 86th St., and the northbound 4/5 trains ended at the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Wall St. stations.

The coroner and the New York Police Department remained on scene as the investigation continues.

It is unclear when full service through Manhattan will resume.
