COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A softball player who was filmed hitting an umpire at Berlin Park has been arrested nearly 13 months after she was charged with assault.

On Wednesday, Columbus police arrested Gregory Roudabush, 39, who was caught on video assaulting a referee during an adult league game on April 19. Just over four weeks later, an investigation by the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department and Columbus police resulted in charges of first-degree assault and fourth-degree disturbing the peace.

Referee Wiley Butler and his attorney John Graceffo spoke to NBC4 and said they intend to take legal action.

Butler told NBC4 he asked Roudabush to step aside and explained why. The player then became verbally abusive. After partially putting up with this behavior, Butler said he ejected Roudabush, who was then punched.

Roudabush, who was banned for life from future leagues, was arrested Wednesday and on Friday Roudabush pleaded not guilty in Franklin County Municipal Court. A judge set him on $25,000 bail and issued a temporary victim protection order.

This is not the first time that criminal charges have been filed against Roudabush.

In 2004, he pleaded guilty to criminal damage and served 60 days in jail. Domestic violence and assault charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement.

In 2014, he was charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping and two counts of domestic violence. These charges were dropped in court when the victim refused to cooperate six months after the trial began.

Most recently, Roudabush pleaded guilty to receiving stolen goods in 2017 and was sentenced to six months in prison.
