An industrial accident has led to the release of gas in County Durham, police said.

Cleveland Police said emergency services had arrived at the site of a fertiliser company in Haverton Hill, near Billingham, following reports of the incident.

Footage posted on social media showed a bright orange cloud of gas in the sky, causing concern among residents in the area.

The gas probably comes from the factory in Billingham.
