Iranian military says late president’s helicopter was not attacked but caught fire after crashing into a mountain – World News

The helicopter carrying the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi caught fire shortly after hitting a mountain. There were no signs of an attack, state media reported, citing military investigators.

Foreign Minister Raisi and six other people were killed in the crash on Sunday. The General Staff of the Armed Forces, which is leading the investigation, announced preliminary findings on state television late Thursday.

The statement said communications between the control tower and the helicopter crew prior to the crash did not reveal anything suspicious. The last communication occurred 90 seconds before the crash and involved two accompanying helicopters. More details are expected as the investigation continues.
