Police officers enforce traffic pattern changes in South Beach over Memorial Day weekend

MIAMI BEACH, Florida. – During Memorial Day weekend, Miami Beach police officers enforced traffic pattern changes in South Beach from Friday morning through Monday evening.

Starting at 8 p.m., there will be single-lane entrances with mobile license plate readers at the MacArthur Causeway East Bridge and the Julia Tuttle Causeway.

“There are police officers at every intersection ready to help,” said Officer Christopher Bess, adding that 18 law enforcement agencies are helping his department combat drugs and weapons.

The entrance to Ocean Drive is at 13th Street and the exit is at Fifth Street. The east and west entrances to Collins and Washington Avenues are at 16th and Fifth Streets.

LOCAL PEOPLE

Access to the Flamingo Park and South of Fifth residential areas is restricted between 6 p.m. and 5 a.m. Police recommend using Alton Road for access.

PARK

There is a parking fee of $30 for visitors and $15 for residents. On-street parking is not permitted along Collins Avenue.

The free parking garage shuttles are available on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. in the parking garages at Fifth, 17th, 23rd, and 42nd Streets. The stop is located on the west side of Washington Avenue between 11th and 12th Streets.

The city government recommends the Miami Beach streetcar line, Miami-Dade County transit services and the transit app.

THE BIG SHOW

The city co-hosted the Hyundai Air and Sea Show along Ocean Drive (11th through 14th Streets) from noon to 6:30 p.m., with activities at Lummus Park (1130 Ocean Drive). The fireworks display will be from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.

“We’ll bring the Army band, symphony orchestra, disc jockeys and the Golden Knights will do a pyro jump at night. Come to the beach and enjoy your military,” said Mickey Markoff, the show’s producer.
