Delays resolved following previous overturned car incident

A busy roundabout lane was closed this morning and there were long delays after a car overturned.

Emergency services were called at around 6.30am this morning to reports of a car overturning after hitting the railings at the Syndle Way roundabout on the A58, below junction 5 of the M61.

There were delays as police attempted to clear the vehicle from the road, causing traffic to back up until about 10:30 a.m.

During the incident, a Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “We were called at around 6.30am because a vehicle had hit the railing and overturned.”

“There are no injuries, but since the vehicle is in the middle of the road, it causes some obstruction.”

“The fire brigade is also on site.”

A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just before 6.30am today (Friday 24 May) a fire engine from Bolton Fire Station was called to a report of a car on its roof on Snydle Way in Bolton.

“The firefighters secured the fire site and were on site for about 10 minutes.”

Traffic is now returning to normal.
