Lundu man receives 10 years in prison and 3 lashes for raping 11-year-old girl

KUCHING (May 24): The District Court today sentenced a 26-year-old man to 10 years in prison and three blows with a rotan for raping an 11-year-old girl.

Judge Saiful Bahari Adzmi sentenced the man, based on his own guilty plea, to a charge under Section 376(2)(e) of the Penal Code, which carries a prison sentence of between 10 and 30 years and caning.

The man committed the crime on May 11 at around 2 p.m. in Lundu.

According to the facts, the girl’s father saw the unknown man with his daughter in his house.

When the father asked the man what he was doing in the house, the man replied that he was looking after the girl before driving away on his motorcycle.

Unsatisfied with the man’s answer, he demanded the truth from his daughter, who admitted that they had had sexual intercourse in her bedroom.

The father immediately reported the incident to the police, which led to the man’s arrest.

The investigation revealed that the man raped the child after chatting with her for 30 minutes.

The prosecution was taken over by Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohammad Fauzan Zamri; the man had no legal representation.
