2 people and 1 dog killed in house explosion in central Minnesota

PRINCETON TOWNSHIP, Minn. – Authorities say two people were killed in a house explosion in central Minnesota on Tuesday morning.

According to the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office, the alarm about the explosion came in just before 4 a.m.

The explosion occurred in the 8200 block of 52nd Street in Princeton Township. Two tenants of the home – a 60-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman – were killed along with their dog, according to the sheriff’s office.


The cause of the explosion is under investigation by the sheriff’s office and the state fire marshal.

WCCO spoke with a nearby resident who said he heard a loud explosion. Several emergency vehicles were deployed on site.

Princeton is about 55 miles north of Minneapolis.
