Sean “Diddy” Combs is accused in new lawsuit of sexually abusing Crystal McKinney in 2003

NEW YORK — A former model accused Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexually harassing her in his New York recording studio in 2003 in a lawsuit filed Tuesday, the latest in a series of allegations against the controversial hip-hop mogul.

Crystal McKinney said she was a successful 22-year-old model when she met Combs at a restaurant during Men’s Fashion Week in Manhattan. Combs invited her to his recording studio later that evening, according to the federal lawsuit filed in New York City.

The lawsuit alleges that when McKinney arrived, she found Combs drinking and smoking joints with several other men. She smoked some marijuana, which she “later learned” was laced with a narcotic or intoxicating substance, the lawsuit says. She felt like she was floating. Combs led her to the bathroom, where the sexual assault took place, the lawsuit says.

Combs led her back to the studio and she lost consciousness, the lawsuit says. She later woke up in a taxi and realized she had been sexually assaulted, the lawsuit says.

Representatives for Combs did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

The Associated Press does not typically name people who report sexual abuse unless they speak out publicly, as McKinney did.

The lawsuit was filed days after CNN aired surveillance video showing Combs attacking singer Cassie in the hallway of a Los Angeles hotel in 2016. On Sunday, Combs released a video in which he admitted to attacking Cassie in the hotel hallway, saying he was “sincerely sorry” and that his actions were “inexcusable.”

Because of the statute of limitations, Combs is not at risk of being prosecuted for the beating.

A lawsuit filed by Cassie in November alleging beatings and abuse was settled a day after it was filed. However, it sparked an intense investigation into Combs, and several more lawsuits were filed in the months that followed, along with a federal sex trafficking investigation that led to authorities raiding Combs’ mansions in Los Angeles and Miami.

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday under a New York City law that allows plaintiffs to file civil lawsuits within a limited period of time, even if the events allegedly occurred long ago.
