Fatal traffic accident in China caused by driver fatigue: Police-Xinhua

CHENGDU, May 24 (Xinhua) — A traffic accident in southwest China’s Sichuan Province that killed five people was caused by driver fatigue, police said Friday.

At around 7:20 a.m. on Tuesday morning, a car drove into a crowd of people waiting for buses in Wusheng County. Two people died at the scene. Despite medical efforts, three more people later succumbed to their injuries.

An initial investigation found that the 52-year-old driver surnamed Sun had been playing mahjong all night and was driving the car when he felt sleepy and exhausted, according to the county public security bureau.
