Man faces six charges after car crash injures two

SALT LAKE CITY — According to police, a man was charged Thursday for allegedly running a red light on May 12, causing a car crash that injured two people.

Authorities said prosecutors have filed six charges against 40-year-old Chase W. Pollock in connection with a car crash near the Foothill and Sunnyside neighborhoods.

Salt Lake City police said they received multiple calls about a two-car crash at the intersection of 13000 S. 2100 East around 4:58 p.m.

According to the press release, Pollock drove an SUV through a red light at high speed and collided with a white Audi.

According to police, investigators determined that Pollock’s SUV was traveling at 92 mph at the time of impact.

The press release said that after the Audi was hit, it “spun several times before coming to a stop in a nearby parking lot.”

After the accident, Pollock’s SUV traveled another 370 feet from the intersection.

According to the police report, when Pollock came to a stop, he got out of his SUV, ran away from the scene of the accident and changed his shirt.

Paramedics took both men in the Audi to the hospital, “the driver in serious condition,” according to the press release.

The press release states that Pollock is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, failure to remain at the scene of an accident involving serious personal injury, speeding, driving on the left side of the road and failure to obey traffic laws.

According to police, Pollock is still in a medical facility.
