The man accused of killing his wife in Reno on Tuesday night reportedly told police she suffered from an overdose, but police say they found severe injuries all over her body that he could not have inflicted on himself.

According to documents filed in Reno Justice Court, 42-year-old Jack Willhoit called 911 on Tuesday night to report that his wife was using drugs, “acting crazy and hitting him.” When police arrived, they found Willhoit’s wife unconscious. Her body was covered in bruises, cuts, burns and lacerations. Police also said they found blood all over the apartment, including on a flashlight, a knife and a screwdriver.

Willhoit reportedly told police that both he and his wife suffer from bipolar schizoaffective disorder and take prescription medications. He claimed his wife attacked him and that he did not touch her, but later admitted to police that he hit her.

According to police, Willhoit’s body showed bruises and red marks, suggesting he had hit his wife and she had fought back.

According to police, Willhoit has been arrested in the past, including for kidnapping, domestic violence and assault in South Carolina.

Willhoit is charged with murder with a deadly weapon.

A man is behind bars accused of killing a woman in Reno on Tuesday night.

Police said they found the victim with serious injuries in an apartment on Park Street shortly after 9:30 p.m.

Despite life-saving measures, the unidentified woman died at the scene.

According to police, those involved remained on site and cooperated with the investigation.

Police said the suspect, 42-year-old Jack Willhoit, was arrested in connection with the death.

According to police, there appears to be no active threat to the community as the parties were known to each other.

The investigation is ongoing.
