As the Washington Post has revealed, a dozen Republican lawmakers are demanding information from the government about the two men from the Middle East who attempted to break into the Marine base in Quantico, Virginia, in a delivery truck.

Lawmakers have called on both the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the FBI to disclose information about the possible terrorist attack.

One of the two Jordanian nationals involved had illegally crossed the southern border in San Diego, California, in April.

According to Fox News, authorities initially found no derogatory information during his screening and therefore allowed him to enter the United States to seek asylum with a later court date.

The other person was in the country illegally because he had overstayed his student visa.

The group of Republican lawmakers led by Texas Representative Chip Roy is demanding that DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and FBI Director Chris Wray explain whether the two attempted to carry out an attack.

Sources initially told Potomac Local News that one of the men was on a terrorist list.

“The brazen attempt by foreign nationals from a region at risk of terrorism to break into a military facility rightly gives rise to concern as to whether this is a possible terrorist attack. However, the federal government has not announced whether this break-in was terrorist,” the MPs wrote.

“The American people have a right to know the extent of the threat posed by potential terrorist suspects, and the
the extent to which this administration’s open borders policy facilitates this.”

The box truck drivers said they were Amazon contractors making a delivery when they drove to Quantico on May 3.

The guards concluded they had no business being there, Captain Michael Curtis, a spokesman for the base, previously told the Washington Post.

However, the couple ignored officers’ instructions and attempted to drive onto the base, where additional vehicle barriers were set up to stop them.

Former Navy SEAL Robert O’Neill told the Washington Post that the break-in showed signs that it could have been a possible “dry run,” most likely by “al-Qaeda or ISIS” to “see how far they could get into the base with a truck” and how the base would respond to a future terrorist attack.

“It looks like it was a test run for something else, like car bombs, because they tried to pose as delivery drivers and then accelerated when the barricades appeared.

“They (Jordanians) are lucky they were not shot,” he said.
