FBI launches investigation into Mica Miller after new video emerges

US News

Haunting surveillance camera footage released recently shows Mica Miller carefreely running errands shortly before her death, further increasing her family’s suspicions that a crime had been committed.

The eerie footage shows 30-year-old Mica pulling up and getting into a black sedan at a gas station in North Carolina, just hours before she died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to authorities.

The clip shows Mica getting out of the car at around 1:30 p.m. before opening the gas tank and going into the store.

The footage, taken on April 27, then shows her walking to a row of refrigerators, selecting an energy drink, purchasing it and returning to her car.

Mica, dressed all in black, with her hair neatly tied back and sunglasses on her head, then waits until her tank is full, sips her drink and then drives off.

Mica’s body was found in Lumber River State Park in Robeson County, just days after she served divorce papers on her husband, John-Paul Miller, a pastor at Solid Rock Church in Myrtle Beach.

John-Paul, 44, is not suspected of being involved in his wife’s death, as police confirmed he was with other people in another state at the time of Mica’s death.

Robeson County Coroner Dr. Richard Johnson also concluded that Miller died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The owner of the remote gas station told NewsNation that when he saw Mica that day, everything seemed fine.

“Nothing, nothing special. Nothing, you know, just a normal day, a normal thing,” said the manager.

According to People.com, the FBI has now opened a “parallel investigation” with the Robeson County Sheriff related to the case, but is not investigating Mica’s death.

Damien McLean of the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office told the magazine, “(The FBI) is conducting an independent investigation into her death. Her death has been ruled a suicide.”

However, several of Mica’s family members continue to insist that she did not die by suicide, claiming that something more sinister is at play.

“I believe the whole thing was staged. I believe the whole thing was premeditated,” Mica’s father, Michael Francis, told NewsNation.

Mica’s sister and brother also loudly expressed their distrust of John-Paul and remain convinced that he is responsible for Mica’s decision to take her life.

Robeson authorities had previously presented a timeline describing Miller leaving her home on the way to the state park to purchase a gun at a store – which was also seen on video surveillance footage.

Another clip from a Ring video camera showed her on her porch earlier in the day.

Since Mica’s death, allegations have surfaced against John-Paul, also known as “JP,” including allegations that he molested and abused Mica, whom he met when she was a teenager.

Before her death, Mica had contacted the police several times and made numerous accusations against her husband.

In a police report, Mica claimed that her husband “groomed” her before their wedding in 2017.

John Paul strongly denied all allegations against him and said Mica was suffering from mental health problems.

His attorney, Russell B. Long, said in a statement: “It has come to light that Mica Miller suffered from mental illness, specifically bipolar disorder, which, when not properly treated, led to paranoid episodes and self-destructive behavior.”

In a 911 call at 2:54 p.m. on the day of Mica’s death – just over an hour after she was caught on video leaving the gas station – Mica told authorities she wanted to trace her phone to the wooded area where her body was later found.

“I’m about to kill myself and I just want my family to know where to find me,” Miller said, according to an audio recording from the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

Long, meanwhile, has firmly denied all allegations of sexual solicitation and abuse against his client.

“Following the untimely death of Mica Miller, unfounded rumors and false allegations began circulating on social media and various media outlets suggesting Pastor Miller’s involvement in her death,” the attorney said.

“This has caused a furore that has led to local and national media spreading these falsehoods on a massive scale. Our client denies all reports suggesting that he ever abused his wife.”
