Deputy David Lynd arrested

The Osage County Sheriff’s Office announced on its Facebook page on May 23 the arrest of Deputy David Shawn Lynd on suspicion of smuggling contraband into the county jail.

The sheriff’s office said Lynd’s arrest was the result of an incident that occurred on May 21 and 22 “on the grounds of the Osage County Jail.” Investigators documented the incident, the sheriff’s office said in its Facebook post. The investigation is ongoing, the sheriff’s office said. Lynd has been suspended from his job.

According to booking information posted on the sheriff’s office website, Lynd was arrested and charged with attempting or conspiring to deliver, manufacture, or possess a controlled dangerous substance; soliciting or accepting a bribe as an officer; bringing a weapon, drugs, or alcohol into a jail; and neglect of duty.

An arrest warrant was reportedly issued for Lynd, of Ramona, on May 22 at 6:09 p.m.

District Attorney Mike Fisher said May 23 that his office was aware of Lynd’s arrest and was awaiting more information before taking further action.
