Susan Buckner, the “Grease” actress who played cheerleader Patty Simcox, has died at 72

Susan Buckner, a film and television actress best known for her role as cheerleader Patty Simcox FatHe died at the age of 72 several Reports.

“Susan passed away peacefully on May 2nd surrounded by her loved ones,” publicist Melissa Berthier said in a statement People. A cause of death was not given.

“The light she brought to every room will be forever missed,” Buckner’s daughter, Samantha Mansfield, also told the publication. “She was magical and I was so lucky to call her my best friend.”

Born in Seattle, Washington in 1952, the actress began her career as a beauty queen. She won the title of Miss Washington in 1971 and placed in the top 10 of the 1972 Miss America pageant, where she secured first place in the swimsuit competition.

During the 1970s, she appeared in various roles in film and television, with the role of courageous cheerleader Patty Simcox becoming her most memorable and well-known. Buckner retired from acting in the 1980s to raise her family.

In addition to FatBuckner appeared in nine episodes of The Brady Bunch Hour, as a member of the synchronized swimming group The Krofftettes. She also had roles on BJ and the Bear, The Love Boat, When the Whistle Blows and more.

Buckner is survived by Mansfield and her husband Adam, son Adam Josephs and his wife Noel, grandchildren Oliver, Riley, Abigail and Ruby, as well as her sister Linda and her longtime partner Al.
