Reality TV star charged with drunk driving after three-vehicle crash

Former “Southern Charm” star Kathryn Dennis faces drunken driving charges after officials say she caused a three-vehicle crash in Goose Creek, S.C., on May 20.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Dennis, 32, was released after being arrested and held at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center in Berkeley County.

Dennis was one of several people involved in a three-car crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 52 and Stephanie Drive, WCIV reported. When police arrived at the scene, they noticed she appeared impaired, had shiny eyes and smelled of alcohol.

It is unclear whether anyone was injured in the accident.

Police conducted a breathalyzer test and then found several empty mini bottles of Fireball whiskey.

According to People, dashcam footage showed Dennis walking straight ahead and doing a balance test before he was handcuffed.

In the police car, she said the police were “ruining my life and that of my children.”

“But it really sucks for you guys to just take people in when they have kids because it could really impact their kids’ lives,” she reportedly said, adding, “I don’t deserve to be here at all.”

When she arrived at the detention center, Dennis said she had been drinking “a lot earlier,” according to WCIV.

At the time of the accident, she had been traveling with her dog, which the police had placed in an animal shelter overnight.

“Southern Charm” is a reality TV show that debuted on Bravo in 2014 and follows the lives of several celebrities in Charleston, SC

Dennis left the show in 2023 after being there for eight seasons.
