Atlanta police release bodycam video of arrests during protests at Emory University – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA – Atlanta police released new bodycam video Wednesday night showing officers arresting protesters at Emory University last month.

On April 25, APD assisted Emory Police in securing campus after a group of protesters against the Israel-Hamas war reportedly refused to “peacefully disperse.”

Police arrested at least 28 people. APD released hours of body camera footage Wednesday evening.

The video shows a student removing crime scene tape that officers had placed to keep protesters in a specific area of ​​campus. After taking down the tape, officers arrested the protester.

Another protester attempted to stop officers from taking the protester away. That protester was then taken to the ground and arrested by police.

In one of the videos released, police can be seen arresting a protester after she walked past officers who were speaking into a megaphone. She was taken to the ground and arrested by police.

Channel 2 Action News is still going through the remaining footage.

The protests are a response to the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. Protests broke out at several universities in April and May, with groups setting up camps after more than 100 protesters were arrested at Columbia University.
