Stage collapses at election rally in Mexico, nine dead

MEXICO CITY — Winds from a violent thunderstorm shook and collapsed a stage during a presidential candidate’s rally in northern Mexico on Wednesday night, sending a metal structure crashing to the ground and sending panicked attendees fleeing.

According to Samuel García, governor of Nuevo Leon state, nine people were killed and at least 60 injured in the accident in San Pedro Garza García. The newspaper Reforma reported that among the dead was an eleven-year-old boy who was buried under the structure.
