GSP investigates incident in which Hampton police officer was struck by vehicle | Local News

HAMPTON – The Georgia State Patrol is investigating an incident Monday evening in which a Hampton Police Department officer was struck and critically injured while directing traffic, HPD Chief Bo Turner said during a news conference Tuesday.

Turner said Duane Jones, a police officer for 18 years, was struck by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 19/41 near Woolsey Road around 10:30 p.m. Monday while directing traffic for a Georgia Department of Transportation paving project.
