Buffalo Born duo wins Emmy Award

There is a saying that most people in Western New York know that everywhere you go you will find a connection to Buffalo. If you need proof that this saying was true, then you need look no further than the 45th Annual Sports Emmy Awards which took place on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York. Center.

Two Buffalo natives were at the Emmy’s to win the Dick Schaap Outstanding Writing Award for a short story written by Jillian Hanesworth and directed by Augustus Clarke for the NFL 360 documentary Still Here.

This documentary story, produced by The NFL Network for the Buffalo Bills, highlights the resilience that Buffalo had shown following several heartbreaking events that marked Buffalo throughout 2022. From May 14 to nearly 50 people who died in the Blizzard of 2022. , Buffalo was hit hard and knocked down, but got back up and stood upright afterward.

This echoes the title of the play written by Hanesworth, Still there.

This Emmy win marks the first for Hanesworth and the second for Clarke, both of whom have made big names for themselves in Buffalo and beyond.

Hanesworth, an award-winning writer, is Buffalo’s first poet Laurette. She was nominated for this position in 2021 and held it until the end of 2023. Jillian’s name is well known throughout the country as one of the most talented voices of progress and change we have views. Hanesworth’s work is currently on display at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum through the end of 2024.

Clarke, known to many as Gus, has been showing the world his skills as a director and filmmaker for years. This award marks her second Emmy of her career, and we’re sure there will be more to come.
