Murder suspect arrested in Atlanta after leading Cobb police on chase

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — An Alabama murder suspect was arrested in Atlanta Tuesday after leading police on a chase through Cobb County, police said.

Cobb County police officers were patrolling Cobb Parkway near Akers Mill Road around 5 p.m. Tuesday when they spotted a white Mercedes-Benz GLC coupe linked to a murder in Mobile, Alabama. When the driver spotted the police vehicle, he sped away and drove south on Cobb Parkway at a “high rate of speed,” even running a red light.

Police then attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver of the Mercedes sped south on I-75, police said. The driver exited onto Northside Drive, where officers performed a PIT maneuver at the intersection of Bellemeade Avenue. The occupants of the Mercedes attempted to flee, but were tracked down with help from the Atlanta Police Department, Georgia State Patrol and Cobb Police K-9.

One of the people in the car who was arrested was 20-year-old Laderdrick Davis Jr., who was wanted for murder in Mobile, police said.
