Teen arrested for car theft and attempted theft of another car in Sterling: Police – NBC Connecticut

A teenager was arrested for stealing a car, abandoning it and attempting to steal another one in Sterling on Monday.

State police said a 17-year-old was taken into custody after an abandoned vehicle was found driving on Sterling Road shortly before 3 a.m. The car was reportedly stolen from Rhode Island.

Police later learned that the same person allegedly attempted to steal another vehicle from a nearby home. That car was found with the rear window smashed and the ignition tampered with.

A K9 found the teen and he was taken into custody several hours later. Police said he is a juvenile offender and is facing charges including criminal breach of trust, obstructing an officer, theft, felony theft and more.

His court date is scheduled for May 28.
