19-year-old arrested by police in Kenner after chase and accident

KENNER, La. (WGNO) – A 19-year-old was arrested following a police chase in Kenner on Wednesday, May 22.

According to Kenner police, they received a call at 3:45 a.m. from a concerned citizen who reported that someone was in the rear of an apartment complex in the 600 block of Vouray Drive and was allegedly breaking into vehicles.


Upon arrival, officers said they spotted the vehicle described by the caller and attempted to stop them. At that point, officers said the driver sped up and sped away, beginning a high-speed chase through the Kenner neighborhood.

An investigation revealed that the driver, 19-year-old Jaden Boyer, crashed the vehicle into a canal in the 4100 block of Ole Miss Drive. Boyer’s 17-year-old girlfriend was also in the vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was allegedly stolen in New Orleans. During a search, officers said they found a handgun and drugs as well as stolen property from other vehicles.

Boyer is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, three counts of simple burglary, possession of a handgun in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of marijuana.

No charges were filed against the 17-year-old girl.

The investigation is ongoing as additional arrests and charges are expected.
