A section of Kannada film industry producers and exhibitors have demanded that film activities be temporarily halted to address various issues related to the Kannada film industry. The apex body of Kannada cinema, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, has now clarified these demands. Read what the President of KFCC has to say about it.

Troubled by the losses suffered Kannada film industry Of late, a section of producers, distributors and exhibitors have demanded that the industry’s activities be temporarily halted to address issues plaguing the Kannada film industry.

Sources say several proposals have been put forward for consideration, including the possibility of closing individual cinemas in line with events in the year Telangana. It may be recalled that the Telangana Film Exhibitors Association has decided to temporarily close at least 450 individual cinemas in Telangana for 10 to 15 days from May 15 to compensate for the losses of the cinemas.

Although no official announcement has been made in this regard, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) held a meeting recently. times now spoke exclusively with the President of the KFCC to find out what the meeting was about and whether it was about temporarily halting the industry’s activities. said the President of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), NM Suresh times now that they had recently held a meeting with certain affected manufacturers, exhibitors and dealers.

“The meeting was held to discuss the major concerns that have been troubling the Kannada film industry for some time. However, no decision has been taken yet regarding the closure of the film industry’s activities. I don’t know where this came from. The ongoing discussion is to find a proper solution to the issues,” said NM Suresh.

He added that issues related to levy of taxes on single-screen theaters in the state and decline in the number of moviegoers were discussed. “Also, the fact that star actors are busy for two to three years on a single film has made matters worse,” he pointed out.

While the cinema owners’ association complains about a decline in viewership in theaters where star films are not scheduled to release in the coming weeks, Kannada producers are faced with star actors taking time to complete a single project.

Moreover, small budget films suffered losses due to OTT issues. However, in the neighbouring state of Kerala, star actors like Mohanlal and Mammootty were busy delivering films one after another and even films by newcomers were doing well. These have helped the Malayalam industry a lot.

The KFCC will meet again tomorrow to discuss these issues and find a suitable solution to restore the glory of the Kannada film industry.
