The death of “Friends” star Matthew Perry should be fully investigated

The Los Angeles Police Department has launched a comprehensive investigation into the death of Friends actor Matthew Perry.

In a statement on An autopsy of Mr. Perry was conducted on 10/29/23 by the LA County Department of Medical Examiner.

“On 12/15/23, the autopsy revealed that Mr. Perry died from the ‘acute effects of ketamine.’ Based on the coroner’s findings, the LAPD, with assistance from the DEA and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, has continued to investigate the circumstances of Perry’s death.

Perry died at his home in October last year at the age of 54. An autopsy later confirmed that Perry’s death was an “accident” caused by the “acute effects of ketamine.”

The autopsy conducted by the Los Angeles County coroner added that contributing factors to his death included drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine (a drug used to treat opioid use disorder).

Perry has previously been open about his battle with addiction and shared that his “Friends” co-stars had attempted an intervention.

Following his death, the actor’s family founded the Matthew Perry Foundation to honor his legacy of supporting those “struggling with the disease of addiction.”

“The Matthew Perry Foundation is the realization of Matthew’s ongoing commitment to helping others struggling with the disease of addiction,” the foundation’s mission statement says.

“It honors his legacy, guided by his own words and driven by his passion to make a difference in as many lives as possible.”
