Friend mourns police officer killed in shooting

Danielle Hines was shot and killed along with one of her children in Caswell County.

CASWELL COUNTY, N.C. — Terror broke into a home on Cherry Grove Road in Reidsville on the Caswell County side Saturday.

The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office said four people were found shot.

Deputies said 37-year-old Danielle Hines died along with one of her children, who was in 9th grade.

Two of her other children were shot but are recovering.

Caswell County Schools said they all attended school there.

Two of them attended Bartlett Yancey High School and one attended Stoney Creek Elementary.

“I’m still processing it,” said Trisha Boone, a friend of Hines. “I feel for her family, I feel for her children, the father of her child, I just feel for all of them.”

Trisha Boone has known Hines and her family for nearly 18 years.

“It’s hard to believe she’s gone. It was a shock,” Boone said. “She was a thoughtful person and really cared about everyone. I don’t think she had a bad bone in her body.”

The family said Hines’ boyfriend, Anthony Siler, was responsible.

He was also the father of one of the youngest children.

Later that same day, he shot himself when Alamance County police pulled him over.

“I was heartbroken for both parties, even for him it was a really bad ending,” Boone said. “I feel for both sides. I will not take the side I feel for both of them.”

It is still not clear what led to this terror for the family.

“At this point, all we can do is help them in any way we can,” Boone said.

Boone tells me that the other two children are on the mend and are doing so well under the circumstances.
