UCSB chancellor’s wife possibly involved in car accident on Tuesday

ISLA VISTA, Calif. – California Highway Patrol officers responded to a traffic accident on the UC Santa Barbara campus Tuesday afternoon that may have involved the wife of a high-ranking university official.

According to a CHP incident log, the incident occurred on Mesa Road near University Square at 2:44 p.m.

The CHP log said the driver of a Buick Lacrosse was the wife of the university’s president and that UCSB was unable to handle the incident “due to a conflict of interest.”
