Democrat John Barrow fails in attempt to unseat Georgia Supreme Court Justice Andrew Pinson

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee defeated two challengers who wanted to replace the jurist overseeing one of the most controversial legal, political and social cases in history the United States.

On Tuesday, McAfee defeated Robert Patillo and Tiffani Johnson in the Georgia primary.

McAfee is the Fulton County Superior Court judge who brought the case against former President Donald Trump. Fulton DA Fani Willis indicted Trump and several of his GOP allies for participating in a criminal conspiracy, similar to organized crime, to overturn the results of the 2020 general election in Georgia.

McAfee has served as a prosecutor for Fulton County and the U.S. Department of Justice. he was appointed to the bench by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp in 2023. Judicial appointees in Georgia must then run for office to serve out the remainder of their terms.
