JetBlue is suspending direct flights from Sacramento to New York City and Boston

(FOX40.COM) — JetBlue will not offer direct flights from Sacramento International Airport to two East Coast cities this year.

An airline spokesperson told FOX40.com that SMF’s direct flights to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City and Logan International Airport in Boston will be suspended for the winter season beginning Oct. 27.

JetBlue said the service suspension was part of a “larger effort to reposition our network.”

“JetBlue is constantly evaluating our routes to best serve our customers, return our airline to profitability and find ways to improve our reliability,” the airline said in a statement.

SMF officials told FOX40.com that they were informed by JetBlue that JFK service was only seasonal and a resumption date was not known at this time.

The direct flight to Boston was SMF’s only nonstop destination to Massachusetts, according to the airport’s website.

The closest direct flight from Sacramento to New York is Newark, New Jersey, operated by United.
