15-year-old, allegedly kidnapped by teenage friend, found safe, suspect in custody

Kaylee Cope was reported missing by her mother early Saturday.

A missing Ohio teenager who was the subject of an Amber Alert has been found safe and her boyfriend is in custody, police said.

Police were searching for 15-year-old Kaylee Cope of Grove City, Ohio, who police say was kidnapped by her 17-year-old boyfriend, Jeffery Gimenez.

According to police, just hours earlier, Gimenez had allegedly posted a video in which he held a handgun and said that he had “a bullet” for Cope.

Cope’s mother, Heather Zogleman, reported her missing around 6 a.m. Saturday after Cope left her home earlier in the night and she was unable to reach Cope by phone, according to Grove City police.

Police learned Cope was with Gimenez and found the video he posted while holding a gun. A stolen vehicle believed to be related to the case was recovered by police.

According to police, Gimenez allegedly gave Cope a ride on Friday around 11:30 p.m.

Arrest warrants were issued for Gimenez on charges of robbery and aggravated kidnapping and he was believed to be possibly armed and dangerous, police said.

Before Cope and the suspect were found, Gimenez was last seen two days ago in a silver four-door Honda sedan with black tinted windows, which the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children said may have been stolen.
